I'm writing after a long time. And this time in anguish.
Well, there are too many articles on the net written by Sachin fans in anguish of his recent drop in form. All the newspapers are publishing long and short stories about India's recent test series win, whether Dhoni is doing good captaincy, Kohli is a star, Raina should stay or leave, Rohit Sharma is a star who somehow doesn't shine, what Sachin is thinking or what the selectors are thinking...
Too many articles flooded the news, the blogs, but I didn't see a single article on India's Nehru Cup win on the same time frame. A hat-trick! India did it big time by holding up a once fearsome footballing nation with players of twice the size than ours! A team ranked about a 100 ranks higher than India!
But what did ours footballers get from the win? Did the country celebrate? I saw only a few post in FB of India's victory in football compared to a sea of comments by so called Cricket Specialist on the test series. That's really sad. It hurts more because I've a love for the wild game, played by men. Indeed it hurts more when you see India's loss in cricket or even a small cricket matches by school kids are highlighted in the first pages of the newspaper while the other sports get only a side column in the inside pages even if they emerge World Champions!
Hope this cricket crazy nation someday pay due respect to other games, too.
